In The Spotlight, MDX Dance School
Students and staff from a leading dance school, MDX in Williamstown, continue to dance their way into high profile national and international theatre productions. Mary Poppins, Mamma Mia, Charlotte’s Web, Wicked, Cruise liners, The Boy From Oz, The Disney Channel, We Will Rock You and The King & I are just a few names on the extensive and impressive list.
Sisters, Chrystal and Trish Hilli run the thriving business and clearly have a strong partnership.“We’ve worked together for 11 years and are going strong. We have a really great team workmanship. We are two very different people and I think that is what works,” Chrystal said.
The duo plus 25 staff members set out to inspire clients to reach excellence and are consequently shaping the elite performers of our future. Providing specialised tuition in the areas of dance, musical theatre, vocal training and drama, MDX caters for everyone. “Whether you’re seeking fun, fitness or a professional career with the entertainment industry, we welcome all to MDX,” Chrystal explained.
Providing the highest level of quality training is at the core of MDX. “Our training environment is pretty awesome, the students train with some of the best coaches in Australia in a first-class performing arts facility. I really get a buzz from the smiling faces,” Chrystal explained.
Chrystal has 15 years of professional experience in the areas of film, television, voice-overs and musical theatre both locally and internationally. One of her most significant achievements was winning the Young Achiever of the Year award which was awarded by The Greater Western Chamber of Commerce and Industry. “It was wonderful to receive the recognition but in the end I am just doing what I love. When you are passionate about something that in turn becomes your full time job, the headaches and demands of a small business are so much more manageable and rewarding. Performing takes me to such a happy place and there is no place I would rather be,” she said.
