Adrian Butera headlined this year’s REIV’s Awards for Excellence when he won the Real Institute of Victoria’s Presidents’ Award last month.

Current REIV President Richard Simpson said the Awards were for this year’s best in business recognizing leaders across the industry and its standout performers.

“Adrian has been involved with the Institute for many years and has made a significant contribution to both the REIV and the industry, particularly in the field of auctioneering where he has been a trailblazer. As the Institute’s inaugural winner of both the novice and senior auction competitions more than 20 years ago, Adrian has been a mentor to many of today’s leading auctioneers,” Mr. Simpson said.

To find out more, we spoke to Joseph Walton, Director of Allard Shelton and 2017 President of the REIV who selected Adrian for the award. He said that Adrian has demonstrated true leadership within the industry and the Institute through his significant contribution over many years.

To this day, Joe remembers the drive, energy and commitment that is Adrian Butera from his first meeting seven years ago. It was at an REIV event when Joe was a newcomer to the Institute. As Joe approached, Adrian mistook him for then-planning minister for Victoria and now current opposition leader for Victoria, Matthew Guy.  Before Joe could correct him, Adrian enthusiastically began to advocate for policy change for Victoria’s planning framework.

“Although we still laugh about it, the result of this encounter highlighted Adrian’s innate commitment to push for change and positive development. It underlined Adrian’s dedication and passion for the industry that he has consistently demonstrated throughout his long service history and as an elite agent in Victoria.”

“He is an outstanding contributor who has served his industry and the Institute admirably through a term as a Board Director (in which he served as Senior Vice President) in addition to serving on a number of committees. As a result, Adrian is highly valued by our members and directors. Off his own bat, Adrian has also created and introduced a number of initiatives to support the industry and Institute.” Mr. Walton said.

“One recent initiative, was a collaboration of industry professionals that Adrian created called “Elevate” which engaged small business owners of agencies to discuss key topics relevant to real estate practice. As the driver of this initiative, Adrian arranged a series of events featuring top industry professionals to share their expertise as well as representatives from Consumer Affairs Victoria to discuss legislative issues that impact industry practice.”

“The events provided the opportunity to engage and talk about the industry and share information that has helped lead to better outcomes for small business.”

“I selected Adrian for this award because he has helped support and strengthen the real estate industry in Victoria and demonstrated outstanding ethical behavior and professionalism that upholds the value of the REIV to every degree.”

“Adrian is an absolute standout in the industry and his influence is significant. We are honored that he continues to strive to achieve the best that he can for the Institute, our members and the real estate industry in Victoria.”
