A Catch Up With Local Mortgage Broker, Sandra Mallia

Your interest in finance began…

I actually fell into the finance industry by pure chance. I was working for a public relations company and a finance broker offered me a job as he thought I would be perfect for it! That was 13 years ago and the rest is history.

A typical day in the life of Sandra involves…

There is actually no typical day as every single day is different. My day always consists of spending some amount of time in my Port Melbourne Office where I will have a meeting with my staff to ensure all our loans are on track. I will also have client appointments in my office. In between this I may have appointments with various banks or lenders to discuss new policies or find out about the latest products. Other days I may visit my clients in their homes or in their offices during their lunch breaks. I also have a home office which is located in Altona where I conduct a majority of my after hour appointments.

You grew up in…

Williamstown and spent the first 10 years of my life there and then we moved to Altona.  I still live in Altona and I love the small village feel, the lovely beach atmosphere and close proximity to the city. I wake up every morning,  get to see the beach and I feel as though I am on vacation.

Interests are..

The property market, spending time with my family, friends and travelling.

Your career highlight…

Was achieving top female broker for loan market  in Victoria and Tasmania last year and this year.

The key benefits of using a mortgage broker are…

Being able to do all the homework in the background saves the customer so many headaches and running around. It also saves the customer from ruining their credit history by shopping around themselves. As an experienced broker I will always look at what my clients will be needing not only now but also in the future.  A good broker should be able to guide a customer from pre-approval  all the way through to the settlement and then beyond.

Your personal motto is…

That my clients are my clients for life and that I expect to always be their first point of call. That way they have a direct link to be able to bounce off questions, ideas and scenarios at any time with someone who knows and understands their whole situation.  Not only can we save our customers precious time but also we can ensure that they have the best possible deal for them. The end result is often a lot of money saved and everybody likes to save money!!
