Ten Questions with Brent Johnson

1. What were you doing before real estate?

I was studying marketing at university as I wanted a degree under my belt and I worked at Village Cinemas Gold Class at Crown Casino. While working at Crown, I met a few famous people such as Tom Cruise, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Pink and Fleetwood Mac.

2. When did your love of real estate start?

In the year 2000 as this was when my parents first started buying and flipping properties. I gained an insider’s perspective of how everyone felt on auction day and so this initially sparked my interest.

3. What has been your career highlight?

Selling a property in Altona for 1,773,500 which was a record price for a non Esplanade property (it was also on a side street.) The vendors were ecstatic with the result as it greatly exceeded their expectations.  Another fantastic result was at 3 Brown Street in Newport. Due to personal circumstances they desperately needed to sell so I really felt like I helped them with the whole process.

4. What’s your favourite recipe?

I make good risotto and also a salmon dish with coconut spinach curry. Representing Donna Hay all the way!

I love spending time with mates, going to bars and restaurants.

6. Favourite type of architecture or style?

Manhattan Loft Style as I love the exposed brick work, beams and aged wood.

7. What do you love the most in your home?

My bedroom especially my bed because I love the comfort factor. It’s nice, peaceful and relaxing.

8.  Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Possibly married, living abroad maybe in London or New York and still working in real estate.

9. What is the most challenging aspect of your usual day at work?

Finding the perfect balance between both parties, vendors and buyers because at the end of the day, you want the best result for everyone.

10. Name one thing we might not know about you?

I have a Japanese symbol tattooed on my foot, you wouldn’t see it because I wear shoes everyday!
