Ten Questions with John Luong

1. What were you doing before real estate?

I completed a Bachelor of Business (Marketing and Entrepreneurial studies) before taking six months off to box and travel South East Asia.

2. When did your love of real estate start?

At the tender age of 16 when I did my first work experience placement at a rival company in Williamstown. I was paid $50 for the week but I loved the action, atmosphere and excitement of putting deals together.

3. What has been your career highlight?

There have been many highlights from my first million dollar sale to my first sale ever! However, 180 Hudsons Road, Spotswood will always be right up there. Being able to achieve a huge result of $125,000 over reserve for the family has been my most rewarding experience to date.

4. What’s your favourite recipe?

Mum’s homemade Pho! Nothing beats it.

5. What do you do in your free time?

Being a real estate agent most of us lack free time!! When I do find some time I always attempt to make it down to the local gym. I also love spending time with family and friends. If I am fortunate enough to get a couple days off I will sneak down the coast for a cheeky road trip.

6. Favourite type of architecture or style?

I have always been a big fan of Californian Bungalows. There’s just something about the street appeal which really ticks the boxes for me. I was very fortunate to sell a property in Hansen Street, West Footscray last December which was a whole street of Californian Bungalows!!

7. What do you love the most in your home?

The large living area for the family to congregate is always essential as plenty of space for ping pong tournaments is always a must.

8.  Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I see myself as the leading Sales Executive in the Inner West of Melbourne and possibly running my own agency or developing real estate. You know what they say, “If your dreams do not scare you they are not big enough!”

9. What is the most challenging aspect of your usual day at work?

Resisting the urge for drive through fast food in between appointments.

10. Name one thing we might not know about you?

I can’t swim but you can probably guess that if you have ever watched Bondi Rescue.
