In Focus: Barkley Johnson
One of the best places in Yarraville to watch the world go by is Barkley Johnson situated at 11 Anderson Street. Owners, Jim Gridias and Prue Sadler named the delicatessen after their beloved pet Golden Retriever whom they lost to cancer. Formerly an old-school barbershop, the 10 month old delicatessen is proving to be popular with the locals. On any given day, the compact building is filled with diners enjoying the breakfasts, lunch, antipasti and wide array of fine Australian and European wine available.“Our dream was to create a delicatessen which has an inviting atmosphere. The fine antipasto available is what makes customers come back again and again. “We saw a gap in the market here for a good deli,” Jim said. Quality product, an intimate setting and friendly service, Barkley Johnson continues to thrive.
